Abstract:   (34 Views)
Introduction and Objective: Anxiety, as one of the factors influencing the recovery of cardiac patients, requires effective interventions. The present study aimed to examine the impact of Quran recitation audio on anxiety in patients admitted to cardiac intensive care units.
Methods: This randomized, two-group clinical trial was conducted in 2024 at the cardiac intensive care unit of the Khomein Educational and Treatment Center in Iran. A total of 68 patients were included in the study through convenience sampling and were randomly assigned to either the intervention (Quran recitation audio) or the control group using a random number table. In the intervention group, Quran recitation audio was played for 15 min at 5 PM for three consecutive days. In both groups, anxiety scores were measured before and after the intervention using the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). Data analysis was performed using the SPSS software, employing descriptive and inferential statistical tests.
Results: The mean anxiety scores of patients before the intervention were 52.35 ± 5.47 in the Quran recitation audio group and 53.87 ± 5.43 in the control group. The results indicated no significant difference in the mean anxiety scores between the two groups before the intervention (p > 0.05). The mean anxiety scores after the intervention were 47.61 ± 8.54 in the intervention group and 51.78 ± 8.06 in the control group. The findings demonstrated a significant reduction in anxiety levels in the Quran recitation audio group following the intervention (p < 0.05).
Conclusion: These findings indicate that the use of spiritual interventions, such as the Quran recitation audio, can be included as part of care programs in the cardiac intensive care unit.
