مقدمه: کمردرد از شایع‌ترین بیماری‌ها در کشورهای پیشرفته و درحال‌توسعه است که ۷۰ تا ۸۰% از افراد بالغ در زندگی خود به آن مبتلا می‌شوند. تحقیق حاضر، به بررسی تأثیر سه روش تمرینی آب‌درمانی، تمرینات اکستانسیونی مکنزی و فلکسیونی ویلیامز، بر استقامت عضلات تنه و شدت درد در زنان مبتلا به کمردرد مزمن می‌پردازد.

مواد و روش­ها: آزمودنی‌های این کارآزمایی بالینی، ۶۸ زن ۲۱ تا ۲۷ ساله‌ی مبتلا به کمردرد مزمن هستند که به‌طور هدفمند  انتخاب شدند و  به‌طور تصادفی در چهار گروه «تمرینات منتخب آب‌درمانی، تمرینات مکنزی، تمرینات ویلیامز و گروه کنترل» قرار گرفتند. استقامت عضلات فلکسور و اکستنسور تنه‌ی آزمودنی‌ها و شدت درد آنان در پیش و پس‌آزمون مورد ارزیابی قرار گرفت. گروه‌های تجربی تمرینات را طی دوازده هفته با جلسات ۴۵ دقیقه ای، سه بار در هفته اجرا کردند. تحلیل آماری داده‌ها با استفاده از آزمون تی وابسته، تحلیل واریانس یک‌طرفه و آزمون تعقیبی شفه انجام شد.

یافته‌ها: مقایسه‌ی میانگین پیش و پس‌آزمون استقامت فلکسور و اکستنسور تنه‌ی گروه‌های تجربی اختلاف معناداری را نشان داد (۰/۰۰۱p=)؛ ولی نسبت استقامت فلکسور به اکستنسور تنه فقط در گروه تمرینات ویلیامز اختلاف معنادار داشت (۰/۰۰۱p=) و کاهش معنادار شدت درد در دو برنامه‌ی آب‌درمانی و ویلیامز مشاهده شد (۰/۰۰۱p=).

نتیجه‌گیری: با توجه به اثربخشی برنامه‌های تمرینی آب‌درمانی و الگوی فلکسیونی ویلیامز بر شدت درد و نسبت استقامت عضلات فلکسور به اکستنسور ستون فقرات، انجام این تمرینات به بیماران مبتلا به کمردرد مزمن توصیه می‌شود
