The effect of eight weeks of aerobic exercise and pomegranate juice consumption on some mir-155, mir-21 and p53 in men with prostate cancer
Introduction & Objectives: Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer mortality among men worldwide and in Iran. Is the prostate.
Materials and Methods: In this quasi-experimental study conducted in 1400, 40 men with prostate cancer with a mean age of 61 years were selected and randomly divided into four groups of 10: aerobic exercise, pomegranate juice consumption, aerobic exercise with pomegranate juice consumption and Controls were divided. Exercise groups performed aerobic exercises for 60 to 90 minutes with intensity of 50 to 70% of maximum heart rate for eight weeks and three sessions per week. Pomegranate juice consuming groups also performed for eight weeks before each training session for eight weeks. And consumed 100 cc of pomegranate juice three times a week. To examine the research variables, blood samples were taken from the participants 48 hours before and after the implementation of the training protocol to examine the research variables. After the exercises, dependent t-test, one-way ANOVA and LSD post hoc test were used to check the data and the test results were analyzed with a significance level of P≤0.05. Results: The results of this study showed that eight weeks of aerobic exercise with consumption of pomegranate juice caused a significant decrease in serum levels of mir-21 (p = 0.001) and mir-155 (p = 0.001) and a significant increase. P53 protein levels in men with prostate cancer.
Discussion: Aerobic exercise and consumption of pomegranate juice simultaneously decreased oncogenic microRNAs such as mir-21 and mir-155 and increased tumor suppressor proteins in men with prostate cancer.
